Overview
Password protection adds a gate to your share link. Visitors must enter the correct password before they can view the document. This is useful for confidential content, client deliverables, or internal documentation.Password protection is available on Pro and Business plans.
How to Set a Password
Open the Share panel
In the editor, click Share and create a share link (or select an existing one).
Enter a password
Type the password you want visitors to enter. Choose something memorable but not easily guessable.
Visitor Experience
When a visitor opens a password-protected link:- They see a password prompt instead of the document.
- They enter the password and click View.
- If correct, the document loads. If incorrect, they see an error message and can try again.
Changing or Removing the Password
- Change — open the Share panel, update the password field, and save.
- Remove — toggle password protection off and save. The document becomes publicly accessible again (unless other gates are active).

Yes. You can use password protection together with email gate, expiry date, and domain allowlist. Visitors must pass all active gates to view the document.

The password form is rate-limited to prevent brute-force attacks. After multiple failed attempts, the visitor must wait before trying again.

The statistics page tracks view counts but does not log individual password entries. If you need to identify viewers, use the email gate instead.

You can always view and change the password from the Share panel in the editor. Only visitors need to enter it.
